Most of the common meditative practices, such as "sitting still" or "just sit" or Qi-Gong are limited to this dimension of physical body only. These practices enable the Qi or Chi (energy in Chinese) circulates only within our flesh and skin. By following the correct practice from an orthodox linage, such as Heart Chan, the Qi is actually able to enter into our bone marrow and our nerve system, replenishing us with fresh energy. It rejuvenates us effectively in a relatively short time and let us surpass our physical self beyond this dimension and into the next.
The Process Of Qi In Our Body
When oxygen, a form of Qi, is inhaled into our body, it is converted into a form of internal energy for our use. We call it our Innate Qi. Therefore, when someone is full of energy, we would usually say, "You are full of vitality or in good spirit." To convert oxygen into energy is an automatic process that takes place constantly in our body. We do not need to learn to do that.
However, because most of us breathe mostly with our chest, as we age, our breathing volume decreases. It is therefore necessary to re-learn breathing with our belly, so that we could eventually turn these Innate Qi in our belly into ”Pure Qi”. Then it could improve our health and lengthen our lives.
As we cultivate our Qi, the ones passing between our flesh and skin are called “Pure Qi”. The type of Qi channeling through our nerves along our bones is called “Spiritual Qi”. Spiritual Qi are stronger and more beneficial than Pure Qi.
If we could channel these Pure Qi even deeper, into our bone marrow and nerve system, then they could be converted into “Spiritual Electricity”. By refining this Spiritual Electricity further, we can experience light emanating from our bone marrow. That is called the “Spiritual Light”.
The basis for Qi-Gong practice, however, is different. It is to condense our “Innate Qi” into “Pure Qi”. Then direct it to a specific location in our body to be used. That's all.
Concentrate on Chakras To Strengthen Their Energy Fields
The practice of Heart Chan, is to be physically and mentally still, by concentrate fully on a certain chakra, and convert our Innate Qi to Pure Qi. Continual concentration on the same chakra could turn then Pure Qi into Spiritual Qi or even Spiritual Light.
Then how do we know for sure that our Innate Qi has turned into Pure Qi? The answer lies in the awareness of changes in the sensations of the chakra we were focusing on.
Take the Navel Chakra for instance, as we focus onto it, we shall first experience heat, and then an electricity-like sensation. Then, as we focus some more, our Navel Chakra will feel cool. These are some of the phenomena we may experience from the effects of cultivating our Qi.
Through these practices, we shall learn that chakra focusing can strengthen the energy field.
These experiences could be applied to other chakras and organs as well.
Improve Our Health Through Breathing
All of us were born with some original Qi, or life energy, in our belly. When we breathe in the air into our belly, we mix it with our original Qi. After a while, our original Qi strengthens. This life energy will then be channeled automatically to our organs, tissues and cells to support and strengthen their normal functions.
Therefore, utilizing breathing to improve our health through meditation is the most natural and healthy way, and far better than taking medications.
The first important lesson in learning to meditate is to develop a habit of deep belly breathing. Mastering such a breathing technique enable us to channel our Qi from the surface of our flesh deeply into our bone marrow and nerve system. It will improve our health as well as prolonging our life.
Because these processes are conducted quietly, we need to calm our mind and body in order to detect and be aware of these phenomena. Please be aware that this kind of quiet detection takes time and needs diligent practice.
