Our sub-consciousness is a vast warehouse of all our consciousness, or mental imprints of our past and present consciousness. Our sub-consciousness
can be more easily discovered while we are asleep or when the mind is
quieted. Although we cannot sense its
existence, our sub-consciousness does govern our thoughts and actions as well
as affecting our success or failure in everyday life. We need to recognize that the power of the sub-consciousness is much
greater than the power of our consciousness.
Sub-Consciousness
Determines Our Fate
Many of us often think that we are not lucky. The causes of that are the “impurities”
within our sub-consciousness. Or, as
Buddhist calls it, "Cause and Effect" and the concept of cause and
effect also relates to karma.
Why do we have karma?
Karma is the accumulation of generations of consciousness we kept with
us when we died in our past lives. When
we die, we often have unresolved concerns or “unfinished business” that we
would not let go and took with us.. That is karma, stored in our subconsciousness, and will hinder us in our
next lives. Hence appropriately called karmic hindrance. It is the cause for our reincarnation. Buddhists call this the cause and
effect.
The reincarnating nature of karmic hindrance cannot be substituted nor
eliminated by ourselves . We need
outside help in order to accomplish that.
Generations of karma would definitely hinder our entire life. We must
practice Chan diligently and find an enlightened master to liberate us from our
karmic hindrances, to purify our third dimension, or empty and purify our sub-consciousness.
In other words, through Chan Ding, stillness of meditation, we could simplify our
complex mind as well as clean out our
sub-consciousness. Then we are able to enter
into the dimension of the wisdom, or the Fourth Dimension, and allow
wisdom to replace our consciousness and sub-consciousness.
